Dear Parents,
As you will be aware from previous correspondence the club will make training slots available to all teams from next Monday, 20th July. A decision on whether your child's team resumes training next week, or at a later date, will be made by the team managers and communicated to you, including details of the training times.
Given the environment in which we will be operating for the foreseeable future we can only resume football activities with the full support of parents. Failure to adhere to all current guidelines by players and parents may result in training slots being suspended for specific teams and / or age groups - and clearly that is a scenario that we want to avoid.
The FAI has produced a document that gives a comprehensive overview of the responsibilities that each type of participant has in relation to safely returning to footballing activities. This is available on the FAI website at www.fai.ie .
In summary, for underage players we are relying on your support to fulfil the requirements.
- Training attendance is limited to set numbers, depending on age group, and all training equipment will be sanitised before and after the session by the managers / coaches. For the first number of weeks, goals will not be in use.
- Underage players must be dropped to / collected from training by a member of their household, or can arrive alone (if appropriate age).
- Players must arrive in their training kit, with their own equipment clearly labelled (water bottle, shin pads, hand sanitiser). This equipment must not be shared with other players.
- For younger age groups parents can watch the training session from a distance of at least 20 metres while socially distancing from other parents, and your child should join you at the end of the session i.e. you do not walk into the group to collect your child.
- Please register with the Irish Government COVID-19 Tracker to assist in the case of contact tracing.
- In particular, please ensure that your child does not attend a training session if s/he is exhibiting any COVID-19 type symptoms, or has been in contact with an actual or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 14 days.
- If you plan on travelling abroad on holidays, please ensure that your child does not attend training until the required quarantine period has expired.
- Finally, bear with us as we get back to playing football. This situation is new to all of us and while we want to ensure that our children resume playing a sport they love in a safe environment, there will likely be a few hiccups during the early training sessions. Rest assured that all of our managers and club officials have been fully briefed and will be doing their best.
The above protocols will also apply to the summer camps where applicable.
If you have any questions, you can email the club, or speak to your team manager in the first instance.
We look forward to seeing lots of activity in Hollypark and Meadowvale in the coming weeks.
Yours in football,
Granada FC Committee
